More than just a lathe
Turning
Long components on conventional and CNC lathes, where the finish and the concentricity both have to be right, not one or the other.
Grinding and finishing
Cylindrical and surface grinding to close tolerance, on parts that have already had a lot of work put into them.
Inspection and measurement
Dimensional checks before, during and after the job, recorded against the job traveller. The measuring matters as much as the cutting.
What you’ll be doing
- ✔Perform precision CNC and conventional machining to tight tolerances, on new components and on rebuild work.
- ✔Conduct quality inspections before, during, and after each job, recording dimensions and parameters on job traveller documentation.
- ✔Read and interpret engineering drawings, job instructions, and specifications; seek clarification proactively before commencing work.
- ✔Accurately log job progress, materials used, and rework activities using shop floor data entry systems.
- ✔Participate in Lean 5S Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- ✔Maintain machines, tools, and work areas; conduct routine maintenance per established schedules.
- ✔Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team across multiple process areas.
✅ Trade cert in Fitting & Machining or equivalent
✅ 5+ years precision machining experience
✅ Strong quality mindset: tolerances, NCRs
✅ Reliable, self-motivated, accountable
✅ Effective communicator and team player
✅ Eligible for Australian sponsored visa
